Many of you are aware that the pool has been closed for the past week. (Very, unfortunately, the hottest week of the year!!) In order to operate a pool like ours, we have to submit water samples to a lab for testing weekly. Our water has always been spot on, but in the last few weeks, we have had issues with one marker that the health department checks: Heterotrophic Bacteria. Heterotrophic bacteria itself poses no risk to humans, however, it is an indicator that the water COULD support other problems such as ecoli (although our ecoli test results were clear). Throughout the week, one of the board members who oversees pool operations spent hours and hours cleaning, scrubbing, filling, and shocking the pool to get the test results we needed. He was able to get the water back to acceptable test levels, but not until Thursday, and the process with the lab and health department takes 48 hours, unfortunately putting us to today (Monday the 22nd) before the health department will be open again to give us the ‘all clear’. We have continued to monitor the water purity and have had a local pool company continue to tell us the levels are good, we’re just waiting on the county and hope to be back up and running ASAP.
We’ll take this opportunity to thank everyone for their patience and remind everyone that the pool belongs to all of us that are homeowners in the Meridian Woods Park community. Aside from the paid lifeguards and their summer manager, the pool is overseen by a volunteer board member. If any of you community members have experience working with pools, even a residential pool or hot tub or know someone who does, and would be willing be part of a small team of volunteers to help navigate these kinds of issues, please send us a message. We really hope in the next year to build some teams within the neighborhood to help take care of and manage the things that make our community great!
The neighborhood pool will be closed throughout the weekend of July 20th and 21st. The soonest it may open is Monday, July 22nd. Updates will be posted here on meridianwoodspark.com and the facebook page as they are known.
On July 22nd and July 24th there will be no office hours at the clubhouse. I will be in the office on July 25th from 5-8pm and July 26th from 9am-2:30pm. Please come see me during these hours if you need anything at all this week.
The annual MWP July 4th parade and cookout will be on July 4 10am-12Noon. Starting at the clubhouse and touring MWP interior streets. Walk, run, ride a bike, ride a trike, etc. Hot dogs will be served! Please bring a side dish or dessert to share with neighbors. Parade will be led by IFD firetruck. Snow cones! Balloon Lady!

In case you haven’t been to the pool yet this year, we have had an amazing start to the 2019 swim season! New pool passes have been issued (if you haven’t received yours yet, stop by the office during hours to have them issued).
Justin McGaha, Nate Smothers, Clay Hicks, Tom Revard, Jan Moorhead, Tim Horty, Allen Rhodes, Dan O’Brien, Ben McGaha, Scott Cabell and Derek Povinelli (I may have missed some guys and I’m sorry) worked countless hours to tear our and replace our old wooden pool deck. They really did an amazing job! If you see any of them, be sure to thank them for their time.
We now have toilet paper dispensers (no more tp on the back of the toilet!) and paper towel dispensers in the restrooms at the pool. YAY!
Phouts Xayamath installed new wooden benches in the Men’s and Women’s pool restrooms to add a little bit of storage during the day.
Our Meridian Woods Park Marlins kicked off the 2019 season last night against Carefree and we took home a win with 300-274! Great job Marlins!
The neighborhood garage sale is scheduled for June 8th. Good luck on selling lots of things!!
The dumpster in the MWP parking lot is for Clubhouse and Pool usage. We have been finding lots of yard debris, boxes and carpeting inside the dumpster.
We need to have the dumpster available for our rentals to use for their trash. Please refrain from using the dumpster for personal use.
On May 18, 2019 we will finally be replacing the pool deck. We are asking for volunteers to help with tear down the week leading up to the 18th and also for construction help on the 18th. We will have all of the lumber at the pool for the new deck.
MWP will supply bottled water and pizza for all who help build the new deck.
If you could email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you could help that’d be awesome so we have a list of volunteers to expect and also so we purchase enough water and pizza.
