As a friendly reminder the dumpster in the Meridian Woods Park clubhouse parking lot is for clubhouse and pool usage only. Over the past few weeks we have noticed it is overflowing regularly with items often placed next to the dumpster if there isn’t room inside of it. The neighborhood only has it picked up once a week due to the pool being closed.
Please refrain from taking your personal trash overflow to the clubhouse dumpster.
As you are aware, the HOA Board of Directors has decided to not open the pool this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There have been some questions asked about the money allocated for the pool season this year. The board has decided to use those funds to complete some much needed maintenance projects around the pool area. The number one priority is having the leak fixed in the baby pool so it will be ready for use next summer. Any money left over from that will be used for other projects around the pool area. If you have further concerns, please send them to the neighborhood email address firstname.lastname@example.org or attend the next board meeting on July 13, 2020.
American Leak Detection will be at our baby pool on June 24th to find the leak. Unfortunately, this was the soonest we could get them out to do a leak test. Justin and his family have been working to get the baby pool cleaned out for this task.
Once the leak is found, we can obtain estimates to fix it properly.
It is with sadness that the MWP Board informs you that the pool will not be opening this season. This is of because of the ongoing Covid Pandemic. Many hours were spent discussing and thoroughly examining several different factors before a decision was made. Factors including but not limited to logistically being able to not only meet our neighborhood expectations daily but also the added mandatory requirements placed by the City of Indianapolis. As a neighborhood HOA, we could not be responsible for any health risks that people may encounter during this new and unknown virus. Our lifeguards are young adults from our community, and we pride ourselves on hiring them to keep swimmers safe. They should not be patrolling a schedule of swimmers to ensure capacity numbers or having their focus on cleaning and other tasks that would take away from their primary job. We felt it impossible to meet the Health Departments guidelines with our limited supplies and employees. The budget that is allocated for this year’s pool season will now go towards fixing the baby pool and other amenities for the pool.
With that said, to say that this decision will be unpopular is an understatement. We have heard from many in our community and we know our neighbor and friends are hurting. All our daily lives have been turned upside and many were looking forward to using the pool as way to enjoy the summer and get some sense of normalcy back in our lives. We know you will be angry, saddened, and disappointed and for that we are sorry. We look forward to the 2021 season and hope all of you stay healthy and stay safe.
We are looking for any neighbors that will be willing to assist with the opening of the pool once all government mandated restrictions are lifted. Currently, we are looking at opening the pool towards the end of May because that is when there are openings. We should have the exact date of “opening” soon, but we will need all hands on deck to help with prep work before that happens.
For this to happen, we will need as much assistance as possible from neighbors. Justin has done this with his family the past couple years and unfortunately is injured right now. This injury will prevent him from doing it alone this year. He can help, but he cannot do the majority of the work.
At this time also, the baby pool does not have an anticipated opening date. We have a leak in the baby pool that we have been trying to get addressed since August 2019, and we have not been able to get it taken care of yet.
Right now, once all mandated restrictions are lifted our main concern is opening our pool and we will continue to address the baby pool after the main pool is dealt with.
Over the past week fliers went into every mail box in Meridian Woods Park to offer assistance to our neighbors that could need help during this pandemic. If you would like to be added to the list of “helpers” please email email@example.com (Please put “helper” in the subject line and I will get you added to the list.
If you need assistance during this time, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 317-784-2872 and we will try to get you the help you need.
Effective immediately the MWP Clubhouse will be closed to all.
As we work through the current recommendations of the CDC we need to do our part to practice social distancing as well. All rentals and social gatherings are canceled for the time being. (Martial Arts, Yoga, Easter Party, etc). We do not have the ability to properly disinfect the clubhouse after each event and therefore need to put the health and safety of everyone first.
At this time, we do not have an opening date for the Clubhouse.
Dues payments can be dropped in the lock box outside the clubhouse.
Please email email@example.com with any questions or concerns.

Our MWP Annual Breakfast with Santa will be held on 12/14/19 from 9am – 10:30am. This is a correction from the newsletter and the Facebook post that was previously shared. We had a snafu with the Facebook Event and had to change the time of the event.
Please join us at the clubhouse for a quick bite to eat and to see Santa! Make sure to bring your camera as we do not have a photographer present.
This event is for MWP residents and their guests ONLY.
